Origin of the celebration
The facts giving rise to this celebration are contextualized at the dawn of the Industrial Revolution in the United States. In the late nineteenth century Chicago was the second city in population of EE. UU. West and Southeast rail arriving each year thousands of unemployed farmers, creating the first humble villas that housed hundreds of thousands of workers. In addition, these urban centers welcomed migrants coming from around the world throughout the nineteenth century.
XXI century and today
At present, many countries reminisce May Day as the origin of the modern labor movement. There are some who do not, being generally of British colonization countries such as the United States and Canada, celebrating the Labor Day (Labor Day) the first Monday in September; New Zealand, the fourth Monday in October. In Australia, each federal state decides the date of celebration: the first Monday of October in the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales and South Australia; the second Monday in March in Victoria and Tasmania; the first Monday of March, in Western Australia; and the first of May in Queensland and the Northern Territory. Because the festival has an official status in many countries, now part of the population continues to participate in the celebrations and claims, while the other party takes the day off for leisure activities, etc.

Difference between calendar days and working days
Calendar days would be all that counts with 365 the year (366 in leap year). Instead, weekdays are all those that are not holidays or holidays. In some countries, the business day coincides with or is equivalent to the working day.
The difference between the two types of days is relevant to the calculation of deadlines or terms, as the result of having natural or calendar days may be different from that which can be obtained by counting only working days. For example: from October 15 to November 15 it has 32 calendar days. In the case of "business day" only count the days no holidays.
In this case, from 15 October 2004 until 15 November of the same year, there are: three days Sunday in October + 2 days Sunday in November (not counting other holidays or holidays). Total 3
+ 2 = 5 non-working days and holidays and 27 business days
